Modern light guides are used to transfer light signals from circuit board mounted LEDs over a specific route to a defined light emitting surface with minimal losses and blurring effects. They offer electronics developers a cost-effective, space-saving and easy-to-install solution with high ESD protection. The MENTOR range of high-quality standard light guides for assembly on front panels or circuit boards consists of hundreds of items that can be supplied from stock with small minimum quantities and short delivery times. It is therefore undoubtedly one of the largest light guide product ranges in the world.

They are available as an option with straight or diagonal injection faces, allowing for horizontal or vertical assembly. Since light guides always work outwards from the interface, they influence the design of the device. Here, light guides with rounded beam surfaces and spherical, flat or countersunk heads offer many aesthetic options, as do versions with square heads. The MENTOR series of high-quality standard light guides offers a wide range of solutions. It includes front panel mounting solutions, as well as vertical or horizontal circuit board mounting versions, single and multiple light guides, bar graph displays, different head shapes, various sizes including miniature versions and flexible light guide systems.
Despite this wide range of standard products, there are still situations where a custom solution for a light guide represents the best solution. This is the case, for example, if a very individual radiation effect is required or if a particularly large amount of time and effort is required to adapt a circuit board or device front to a standard light guide.
We know from many years of experience that individual length adjustments are often necessary to adapt standard light guides to individual requirements. Intelligent tooling strategies enable us to implement these solutions for our customers with no or minimal tooling costs and low minimum order quantities.
We have designated light guides that can realize custom lengths within the specified length variation (dimension A) with no or minimal tooling costs, symbol C+. The advantage here is the exceptional cost-effectiveness of these solutions. We designate solutions where this possibility does not exist but with a variety of tool-related special versions, symbol C.
